The Script refers to the struggles of love in some way, be it the sorrowful description of heartache “Breakeven” (currently #66 on the iTunes Top Charts) or the suggestively titled “If You See Kay”. Their original melodies combine alternative-sounding drums, soulfully crooning vocals, repetitive guitar undertones, and the occasional keyboard to form an utterly unique sound. The tracks on the album vary in style ranging from the soft rock of “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” to the quick-paced tempo of “Rusty Halo,” to the rap-like lyrics of “We Cry”. The Script’s first album proves that they have the ability to play music and to alternate styles, but maybe not the ability to write songs on diverse subjects.
